The band is releasing their first EP called EP1 MEANING (2022). It will be the first part of a three EP collection that will bring BEYOND OBSESSION back to their musical roots. The song „NEW BREED“ is the fourth release – only as a video single.

Beyond Obsession wurde 2012 während des WAVE GOTIK TREFFEN in Leipzig gegründet und ist beeinflusst von der Tanzmusik und dem stylischen Indie-Pop der Achtziger. Bestehend aus Nils Upahl (Gesang/Synthesizer/Gitarre) und Marco Bartz (Synthesizer seit 2020) hat die Band mehrere Alben veröffentlicht. Nach einigen großen Festivals arbeitete die Band mit Produzenten wie Olaf Wollenschläger (Mesh, Melotron, And One), Daniel Myer (Haujobb, Cleaner, Bruderschaft, Noise Unit) und Rob Dust (Depeche Mode Remixer) zusammen.
Beyond Obsession begannen, ihren stilvollen und dunklen Indie-Elektronik-Pop mit großen Vocals live zu präsentieren. Manche sagen, der Sänger klinge wie Martin Gore oder Andy Bell. Das Getuschel auf der Straße führte Beyond Obsession schließlich zu einem Plattenvertrag mit POPGEFAHR (De/vision). Sie unterschrieben auch bei INFACTED RECORDS. Nach der Veröffentlichung ihres ersten Albums LISTEN, LEARN AND SPEAK mit ihrer Hitsingle ON MY WAY Anfang 2013 stürzten sich Kritiker schnell auf die Band und hielten sie für einen Künstler, den man sich ansehen sollte. Es folgten Touren mit AND ONE, SOLAR FAKE und Shows mit CAMOUFLAGE und DE/VISION. Nach der Veröffentlichung von PIECES OF MACHINERY (2015), MOMENTS OF TRUTH (2016) und REVOLUTION FROM BELOW (2020). Beyond Obsession was founded in 2012 during the WAVE GOTIK TREFFEN in Leipzig and is influenced by the dance music and stylish indie pop of the eighties. Consisting of Nils Upahl (vocals/synthesizer/guitar) and Marco Bartz (synthesizer since 2020), the band has released several albums. After some big festivals the band worked together with producers like Olaf Wollenschläger (Mesh, Melotron, And One), Daniel Myer (Haujobb, Cleaner, Bruderschaft, Noise Unit) and Rob Dust (Depeche Mode Remixer).
Beyond Obsession started performing their stylish and dark indie electronic pop with big vocals. Some say the singer sounds like Martin Gore or Andy Bell. The whispers on the street eventually led Beyond Obsession to a record deal with POPGEFAHR (De/vision). They also signed with INFACTED RECORDS. After the release of their first album LISTEN, LEARN AND SPEAK with their hit single ON MY WAY in early 2013, critics quickly pounced on the band and deemed them an artist to check out. Tours with AND ONE, SOLAR FAKE and shows with CAMOUFLAGE and DE/VISION followed. Following the release of PIECES OF MACHINERY (2015), MOMENTS OF TRUTH (2016) and REVOLUTION FROM BELOW (2020). Beyond Obsession stehen für rhythmische, elektronische Hymnen zwischen Dance, Emotion, Melancholie und Pop, gespickt mit Ohrwurmmomenten und einer ganz einzigartigen Stimme des Sängers Nils Upahl. Beeinflusst aus der ganzen Palette der elektronischen Musik, zusammengehalten vom klassischem Songwriting und mehrstimmigen Gesang. New-Wave trifft auf Dance-Klänge und die Sounds der 80er Jahre finden sich in modernen Harmoniegewändern wieder. So bereichern die Herren seit geraumer Zeit die elektronische Musiklandschaft und bleiben trotzdem ihrem unverwechselbaren Stil treu.
Beyond Obsession stand for rhythmic, electronic anthems between dance, emotion, melancholy and pop, peppered with catchy moments and a very unique voice of singer Nils Upahl. Influenced by the whole palette of electronic music, held together by classic songwriting and polyphonic vocals. New wave meets dance sounds and the sounds of the 80s can be found in modern harmony robes. In this way, the gentlemen have been enriching the electronic music landscape for some time while still remaining true to their unmistakable style.
